DC Car Free Day 2008
WABA is again supporting Car Free Day, scheduled for the first day of Autumn, September 22nd. Car free day supports all non-automobile options, not just biking.
Car Free Day is an international event celebrated every September 22nd in which people are encouraged to get around without their car - highlighting transit, bicycling, walking and all alternative modes of transportation.
The DC Circulator will be offering free rides all day on Car Free Day. Celebrate your freedom and ride the Circulator
There's a lot of good info on the official site, including SmartBike and BikeDC. Alexandria has prizes for those who live or work there
The City of Alexandria's Local Motion program is offering six lucky commuters the chance to win their choice of $50 SmarTrip card or $50 gift card to a local bike shop, along with a Local Motion prize package. All residents and persons working in the City who pledge to go car free or car lite are eligible to win. Commuters must use a non-drive-alone transportation option on Car Free day to be eligible.
So will Montgomery County
Between 6:30 and 9:30 a.m. get information about various transportation options at the following Metro stations: Bethesda, Friendship Heights, Silver Spring, Wheaton and White Flint.
Enter drawings for prizes such as $50 towards your next commute (transit fare cards and passes), coupons to local retailers, or walking shoes!
Everyone who pledges to go car free for the day will be eligible for prizes. Ironically, I'll be driving all over Yellowstone that day

D'oh ... I'll also be out of town. Does it count if I'm not driving a car on my vacation?
