50 States and 13 Colonies Rides

Tomorrow. I have not pimped this out, but let me quote myself from 2005

If you ever wanted to bike the entire city in one day, this is your chance. You'll bike in every direction, up hills, double back, and never be more than 5 miles from where you started - even though the course is roughly 60 miles. Metro is your sag wagon. Fun and weird washcycle recommends it.

Plus, this year they have pit stops, lunch, after-ride drink specials, special guest marshal Sarah Silverman, ice cream for everyone, flu shots, the King and Queen of the 50 States Ride and the whole 13 Colonies court, music by Madness, and more. (OK, a lot of that isn't true, but it is fun).

I'm backing away from my previous claim to do the 13 colonies and am now going to do the 50 states, but at noon I'm sitting in front of a TV to root for Texas.

Head to Adams Morgan's Walter Pierce Park this Saturday (8-9 a.m.) to pick up a cue sheet for directions to the 63-mile adventure that'll have you zig-zagging throughout the District.
