The Only Independent Bike Shop on Capitol Hill Celebrates 10 Years of Service to the Local Cycling Community.
Washington, DC, February 5, 2010: After losing its lease late last year, Capitol Hill Bikes has found a new location on Barracks Row, nestled amidst the crop of restaurants that have emerged over the past few years. Owner Denise D’Amour says, “Although we had several offers to move to other parts of the District, we were committed to continuing to serve our loyal clients on the Hill. So we were thrilled when a space became available right down the street from our old shop.”
To celebrate its re-opening, the shop will host an Open House on Friday, February 12 from 6-9 p.m. Business officially resumes on Saturday, February 13, when the shop will be open and ready for sales and repairs. Sales Manager David Dorn promises that customers will be pleased with the changes. “We have re-dedicated ourselves to serving the needs of the community,” Dorn explains. “That means you will find plenty of reasonably priced bikes that are good for commuting and recreation in our new product line.”
Capitol Hill Bikes initially opened in May 2000 on the premises of the former Metropolis Bikes. Co-owners Denise D’Amour and Laurie Morin set out to create a friendly environment where they could share the joy of cycling with people of all ages and skill levels. They are especially committed to making their shop attractive to women, with knowledgeable staff and a good selection of women-specific bikes and clothing. “”We love to put people on their first bikes,” D’Amour says, “or get them back on their bikes after a long break. Everyone is a kid again when they get a new bike. We want to share that joy and send everyone out of our shop with a big smile.”
RE-OPENING WEEK-END HOURS: Friday 6-9, Saturday 10-6, Sunday 12-5.
