I had a photo of the Golden Triangle BID's new artistic bike parking yesterday and so they sent me an official photo yesterday.
Carlton Diehl, Chairman of the board for the Golden Triangle BID, congratulates Jeffrey Platts, of Dupont Circle, after he won a new bike when Deihl pulled his name as part of the artistic bike rack design program. Platts, who works in the building at 2000 L St. NW adjacent to where the bike rack is located, said his bike is six years old and needed to be replaced. In the background are: Christophe Tulou, the acting director of the city’s Department of Environment, who addressed the benefits of driving less and the city’s commitment to cycling. There are 45 miles of bike lanes in the District and the goal is to have 80 miles. Also looking on is Jackie Duke, Vice President, Operations of the Greater D.C. Region for Brookfield Properties, which owns the building at 2000 L St. NW.
Not to be outdone, Crystal City's BID has installed on street bike parking in partnership with Arlington County. This is on 20th Street near the intersection with Crystal Drive. It holds 14 bicycles.
They're also organizing a great Monument night ride with the
City Hub this Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 PM with snacks and drinks provided by
Whole Foods.
