Cyclist hit and killed n Union Bridge, MD

Yesterday afternoon

Maryland State Police say a bicyclist has been struck and killed by a tractor trailer in Union Bridge.

It happened Tuesday shortly before 3 p.m. on Route 75 at Shepherds Mill Road. Police say a tractor-trailer driven by 37-year-old Anthony Woodie of Union Bridge was making a right turn from Shepherds Mill Road onto Route 75.

Troopers say the tractor-trailer hit the bicyclist, 51-year-old Arthur Martin Jr. of New Windsor.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.

That's horrible to hear. I wonder if the cyclist ran into the trailer as it turned (going into the bike lane/shoulder) or if the trailer ran into/over the cyclist... either way it's a tragedy and a reminder to be extra aware of the vehicles around us, esp at intersections.
