Official Announcement:
On Sunday, May 22, join us for Bike DC, Washington and Arlington's extraordinary community bike ride. Enjoy 20 miles of biking with your family and friends on car-free streets, highways and parkways.
The ride begins on the National Mall in front of the U. S. Capital. Bike up Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House and cross the Potomac River into Virginia on the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge/I-66. Yes, the freeway will be bicycles only for Bike DC.
Relish the views of Washington and Georgetown from the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Pedal past some of the Nation's most treasured sites: the Marine Corps Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, the Pentagon and the Air Force Memorial. Cross the Potomac River again to reach the finish line back in Washington.
Register now and receive a $5 discount off the adult and youth registration fees. Children 12 years old and younger are free!
Simply enter Discount Code BIKE401 when prompted during the registration process. Hurry! The early registration discount ends Friday night, April 8th. Invite your family and friends to also take advantage of this discount.

This is good because WABA sent out a couple of notes earlier saying the NPS denied a permit for the GW Parkway, remember? So this is great news, but I am guessing the GW section is shorter this year (which is fine, we'll live). I do shudder a bit about the condition of the Roosevelt bridge for bikes, and this will be the first one I'll do that doesn't finish in Crystal City.
