As I run over here all the time, I've been able to watch this work regularly. They first built the new road farther from the river than the old one. Then they removed the old one and now they're putting in the trail, which, it appears, will have lights. This is between the Sousa and 11th Street bridges.

It is spectacular to finally see. Too bad NPS is blacktopping all the parking lots, it's as if runoff to the river was the furthest from their minds.

Are they installing any bioretention to mitigate runoff from the parking lots and/or road and trail? One would certainly hope so, but unfortunately such design is not yet required by law.

There are some, but they may be temporary for the construction.
