In my experience the NPS has always been very prompt with removing downed trees on the CCT during the week. Usually within 24 hours.
Maybe with budget cuts they just don't have anybody on hand to respond over the weekends.

Pete: Some of the trees bordering the CCT are not in great shape. Its not surprising that some of them fall.
