My 15-mile commute to work (by bike twice a week)- the stretch from Irving to Otis is the most dangerous and ugly section for me. It seemed too good to be true that this neglected section was going to get improvements. Guess my hunch is true.

Would Fenty have done this?

Gray not interested in pushing for more cycling infrastructure and keeping DC at the vanguard of urban development.

other than writing Mayor Gray, any other thoughts on who to contact about this and advocate for keeping the bike lanes?

Rather than riding on Georgia it is well worth exploring the parallel roads such as 8th St and Warder. 5th St around the McMillan reservoir and thru the old 19th century neighborhood on 4th is a nice ride.

Actually this is the second time that funds have been taken from Georgia Avenue Great Streets Project to be used elsewhere in the District . Fenty took funding in 2009 to use on H Street, NE.
So now the total hits closer to 3.8 million taken from the Georgia Avenue project.
Ward 4 is simply lacking the leadership to plan smarter, so that our funding can be 1) secured 2) and spent time and appropriately. So those of us around Ga. Av. continue to lose.
