Also need to look out for runners in the bike lane. Many runners use bike lanes to avoid ice and snow on the sidewalks after storms. I saw two runners yesterday morning doing just that.

The car parked in the lane appears to be, of course, a MetroAccess van.

I think MetroAccess gets a pass.

When I see people parked like jerks, one thought in my warped mind is "jeez, are you so feeble you can't cross the dang street?"
Given that the chair-lift equipped MetroAccess van is stopped right next to the accessible ramp into the Treasury building, I'll just shut up now.

I had a Secret Service car almost run me over in the lanes near that spot last night. But I've already learned the hard way that arguing with Secret Service patrolman is a fast way to getting a ticket for something.

Maybe paint some crime scene outlines of pedestrians laying in the middle of the bike lane. That might deter some people.
Having a two-way bike lane (or cycletrack) instead of normal bike lanes exacerbates the problem. If someone blocks the bike lane(s), inevitably some cyclists will be forced into oncoming bike traffic or oncoming car traffic. Imagine what would happen if a road had travel lanes that alternated direction (all the even lanes one way, all the odd lanes the other) and someone blocked a lane. Of course no sane person would design a road that way. Or would they?

@aaa, still, knowing that you'll get a ticket just means you better make it worth it. Let the officer have it with both barrels. Go big or stay home, as they say.

Ticket for what? If the officer is in the wrong, they're in the wrong.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but uniformed SS* are not MPD. Pretty sure they can't give out traffic citations.
(*yeah,I meant that)
