That tunnel is a nightmare. Used to hate, hate, hate commuting downtown from Mt. Pleasant along the trail when the zoo would close their path and stick me in that thing. Wasn't there a plan floated to expand it?

Someone is going to die on that thing eventually. I'm shocked it hasn't happened sooner.

The rehabilitation plan of the Rock Creek Park trail includes widening the path through the tunnel and narrowing the width of the road lanes. http://www.thewashcycle.com/2011/12/nps-supports-massive-improvements-to-rock-creek-park-trail.html
