Good afternoon
- The Atlantic has a good response to those who are complaining that CitiBike is too expensive for those who want to go on a 6 hour ride or ride around Governor's Island. In a nutshell, it's the punchline to a Henny Youngman joke ("Doc, it hurts when I do this", "Well then, don't do that.") It's kind of shocking that this criticism is being heard in NYC, when DC's has been up and running for so long. We heard the same stuff here and it proved to be unfounded. It's like no one bothered to call CaBi and ask them about it. And I'll note that while the fees are higher, you also get 45 minutes before overage fees kick in. So you're probably paying the same amount per minute.
- Bike to school day is Wednesday.
- More on the Capital Bikeshare expansion into Maryland. "Fred Shaffer, chairman of the Prince George’s County Bicycle and Trails Advisory Group, said the county will focus the study on the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area inside the Capital Beltway, which includes Hyattsville, Riverdale, Bladensburg, Colmar Manor, Cottage City and Edmonston. The area was chosen because it is adjacent to Washington, D.C., and Montgomery County, which also has received funds to implement a Bikeshare program, and its network of trails, Shaffer said." Also it sounds like the College Park stations identified earlier are only proposals.

Stupid autofill...

Tourist use of CABI seems pretty price insensitive. Even for 90 or 100 it seems pretty cheap. NYC is no different.
$40M for sponsorship is pretty amazing.

sorry, cut myself off.
Any word of the possibilty of shairng systems?
Given, with day membership it isn't really an issue but would be very cool.

charlie, it's like ending gerrymandering. Everyone I talk to supports it, but no one sees it happening.

As I said, with day passes not a big deal.
What would also work is if Alta could recogonize that you are a DC member and when you buy a day pass in NYC they don't charge the $100 hold.

@Charlie: Agree.
I would happily ride a Capital One Bikeshare if it meant double or triple the stations in a short amount of time.

Charlie, I agree that the lack of sharing between systems is not a big deal, but it is worth noting that the proposed NY system apparently has a different pricing scheme than the DC system -- annual members get 45 minutes without charge, while daily members get only 30 minutes. Again, not a huge deal.
Side point: I don't understand why they are going to require a few minute lag in between daisy-chained rentals (ie you need to wait a few minutes after checking in a bike before you can check one out). Is daisy-chaining a problem? Aren't people going to try to defend "ownership" over a bike after they have checked it in and are waiting to be able to check it back out again? If the station otherwise is empty, won't other people challenge that claim of ownership, and won't that lead to fights? Maybe Citibikers will demonstrate a higher rate of helmet use after they find that daisy-chaining leads to poundingl

Overheard in NYC, August 2012?
"I got your Citi bike right here. Just try and take it from me. Go on. I was here first."

I'd even just be happy to be able to use my key to buy a day pass and not have to use my card to get temp codes. Using a credit card takes forever.

I agree with guest on that last point. Saving cost would be nice, but logistical ease is a huge benefit on its own!

Cascade serien en god avkastning, og legger til de rike farger og funksjoner hardføre til minus 20 grader, bryte den tidligere klassiker.
