Good morning
- John Hendel, who writes the TBD On Foot blog, is leaving TBD to report on telecommunications policy for D.C.-based Warren Communications.
- NYC police are taking criticism for the way they handle pedestrian fatalities. And I have to disagree with John Pucher here: "The influx of new bicyclists this summer from the city’s bike-share program will most likely increase the strain, experts said. “I fear it will lead to a really big jump in fatalities and injuries, among both cyclists and pedestrians,” said John Pucher, a professor at Rutgers University who has written on global bicycling trends."

Pucher stated in an email to the EU Cycling Fed that he was quoted out of context https://twitter.com/EuCyclistsFed/status/212181208082288640

I didn't know TBD was still around.

RE: Pucher-
Can't say I'd *entirely* disagree with Pucher, but there's a critical distinction between an increase in total collisions (more likely) versus an increase in collision rate (not as likely). And also worth noting that to my recollection: CaBi hasn't yielded any significant increase in either total collisions or collision rate.

I believe Hendel was the last of TBD's full-time employees (that's what dcrtv.com says anyway).

I've generally found that when Pucher takes a position, a sensible position is the opposite.
