Good afternoon
- This is a bit old - from the January issue of Hill Rag (page 57) - but ANC6C's Transportation and Public Space Committee voted to ask DDOT to end the three-lane periods on K Street, NE and add traffic calming measures, like bike lanes, to it. Right now there are two lanes of traffic and two lanes of parking, except at rush hour when there are three-lanes of traffic.
- Proteus Bikes website now has lots of biking advice and the store is having a going away party for their departing owner.

What about K Street NW? From 7th to North Cap is being rebuilt and is an ideal connector to the MBT and a decent alternative to Mass Ave. Looks like the first couple of completed blocks from 7th to 5th have been striped without bike lanes.

Bike lanes on K St NE would be a major improvement. Between North Capitol and Mt. Vernon square as well (that stretch is in NW).
Though it should be noted that the curb lane is often not useful for autos during rush hour, because people are often parked illegally there, especially between North Cap and 1st NE.
In addition, there are only two lanes each direction on K St. NE, not three. It's one lane each direction during non-rush periods, with parking permitted on the curb lane. Switches to 2 lanes each direction during rush hour.
