It was only a few years ago that this section of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail - along Water Street - was installed. But now most of it has been torn up for whatever project is going on here. And further down toward 11th, the sidewalks have all been damaged by the heavy trucks working on the bridge. That's just how it goes sometimes.

I'm pretty sure this project (along w/the other Big Dig in the trail just south of RFK) is part of the mega sewer/stormwater run-off remediation project to keep sewage from running into the Anacostia when we get deluged. It is kinda frustrating that the trail was open for a little while, then bulldozed w/out warning, but all for the better good in the end!

On the bright side, it will be the first part of the tunnel project that they finish, so back to trail again soon, we hope.

It looks impassable for some bikes. If we think of this path as providing recreation only, then I suppose thats OK. But, if it is part of a route used to connect neighborhoods, commute, etc, then I don't think we should be happy with "thats how it goes" for too long.

What does DDOT say? With the CCT, I have tried to get MoCo to change their concept of it from a recreation facility to a commuting route, and to act accordingly.
