The Rockville Bicycle Advisory Committee (RBAC) is launching Kidical Mass Rockville, the latest in the Kidical Mass nationwide movement to encourage families to see cycling as a safe, practical and fun form of transportation.
Through this summer and fall, RBAC will be leading four Kidical Mass rides, each starting from a different family-friendly location in Rockville. The rides are scheduled for the second Saturday of each month, starting at 10 AM. They will be 2 to 4 miles long with a break in the middle. We welcome riders of all abilities and use multi-use paths, quiet residential streets, and bike lanes. Families are encouraged to bring their children, whether in bike seats, trailers, tag-alongs, or on their own bikes. We will ride at the pace of the slowest participant and welcome even little riders!
The schedule is:
- June 14: Start at the Thomas Farm Community Center for a ride to Carmen’s Italian Ice(and/or the park across the street) and back.
- July 12: Start at the Rockville Swim Center for a ride through the surrounding neighborhood.
- August 9: Start at the Croyden Creek Nature Center for a ride to Rock Creek Park and back.
- September 13: Start at the Twinbrook Community Center for a ride through the surrounding neighborhood.
