Last month, the Transportation Planning Board approved 13 projects in Northern Virginia for Transportation Alternatives (TA) funding. TA provides funding for "alternative" (non-highway construction) transportation projects. Among those that were approved were.
- A trail connection between Four Mile Run and the streets of Crystal City ($200,000)
- Sidewalk improvements and curb extensions along the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor ($200,000)
- New sidewalk and trail sections for bicycle and pedestrian connections to Ashlawn and Williamsburg schools in Arlington County ($400,000)
And then there are some other projects in Fairfax, Loudoun and other farther out counties. Oddly, there was nothing for Alexandria.
