As mentioned here before, the DPWT wants to study additional alignments for the Metropolitan Branch Trail through Silver Springs because the preferred option came in at a higher than expected cost of $21 million. DPWT wants to study two "no bridge, no tunnel" options. That means no bridge over Georgia Avenue and no tunnel under Burlington (MD-410). In a demonstration of how much this has slowed down the process, DPWT has had to schedule a do-over of the Facilities Planning Public Workshop it held on March 22nd. The new meeting will be held at M-NCPPC, 8787 Georgia Ave., on Tues., November 22 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. As one would guess WABA, the Coalition for the CCT and pretty much everyone else is unhappy with the decision.
