The side on the left points to US Park Police and the MD State Line (to the left) and the National Zoo, C&O Canal Towpath and Netherlands Embassy. The right side points to Carter Barron Theater (to the left) and the Nature Center and Equitation Field."
This is the second mushroom in Rock Creek Park near the Dutch Embassay. The first is at Pierce Mill.
There are also ANWB Mushroom signposts on the Henson Creek Trail.
The well proportioned, ubiquitous mushroom that is now a part of the Dutch landscape was designed by the architect Leliman at the end of World War I, when metal was scarce and wood would quickly disappear in somebody's stove.
