I've shown this photo of bikes parked outside the World Bank before. I show it again because I biked by on Sunday and saw all the tops of the meters were gone (and no bikes were parked there). I'm not sure where they went but I suspect they're replacing them with one of the new multi-space parking meters as they've done in Georgetown and Adams Morgan.
I like the new parking meters. They create more sidewalk space for pedestrians, reduce theft and more closely tie costs to driving (though, since you can't find a meter with time still left on it, they reduce the overall amount of serendipity in one's life - but that should also reduce block circling by people looking for an unexpired meter). I just hope they plan to add in inverted U's to compensate for the lost bike parking - or at least turn half of them into bike circle racks like these in Arlington.
Interesting...the rack in the picture on your link (BikeArlington) is the only one I've seen in all of Arlington. Is it the only one so far?
I think it would be nice if the county painted the poles the same color as the circle racks...would sure help with the aesthetics. A good idea nonetheless, assuming their tamperproof.

I haven't seen one yet either, but I did see several in Seattle. I agree they need some aesthetic improvement.
