It's interesting how, when the highways in the area were being built, no one thought any one would walk or bike anywhere anymore. Since then pedestrian bridges over (or under) the highways have been going up at various locations. The North Bethesda trail has two. The Forest Glen bridge just opened. New ones are included in the Wilson Bridge Project. And there are more than I can think of right now. Now, a new one over I-270 in Rockville is under way.
Traffic along Interstate 270 will stop periodically for construction of a bridge being built across the highway near Route 28 during the early morning hours of Dec. 4 through 6.
The city’s Bicycle Master Plan calls for a bridge, separate from the Route 28 one that carries vehicles, to connect east and west Rockville for bikers and pedestrians.
Construction has already started, but traffic must be stopped to set steel.
The article mentions it as part of the Millenium Trail, but looking at this map, I think that's incorrect.
