The WaPo had an article today about the Cherry Blossom Festival and the peak date (April 4). In the article, WABA's bike valet parking was promoted by the Mayor - who referred to himself as a cyclist.
Fenty took note of the festival's plan, for the second year, to have valet bicycle parking.
"As a cyclist myself, that is fantastic to leave your bike for free and having it left in a staffed area during the entire time of the festival," he said. "I'm telling you, as a cyclist, that's a really big deal, because that's a big worry: Where are you going to leave your bike?"
Traffic is a mess down there if you've never been. Biking is the way to go - but it's too crowded to bike around the sidewalks and such, so the bike valet is nice. More from WABA...
See the blossoms not the traffic! Leave your bike in our secure parking area while taking in the trees and various festivities. We will have two convenient, accessible locations this year! To volunteer, please contact Jeff Peel at [email protected] or call the WABA office at 202.518.0524.
Last year's valet bike parking was featured on Episode 121 of "Perils For Pedestrians"
