The Seven Locks Sidewalk and Bikeway Project, which is supposed to
provide bike facilities on both sides of Seven Locks Road between Montrose Road and Bradley Boulevard.
features an 8-foot-wide shared-use path along the west side of the road, a 5-foot-wide sidewalk on the east side and an eight-foot wide shoulder to allow on-road bike lanes along both sides of Seven Locks Road between Montrose Road and Bradley Boulevard (up from the previously designed 5-foot wide bike lane). The new shared-use path would connect with two existing paths, one south of Bradley Boulevard and one that runs between Wootton Parkway and Montrose Road.
is having its plan reviewed by county officials next month when the proposal heads to the Montgomery County Planning Board.
The public may testify before the board but the meeting time has yet to be set, said Aruna Miller, project manager, Montgomery County Department of Public Works and Transportation.
County planners also presented the proposed Seven Locks Road Sidewalk and Bikeway Study plan to area residents on March 6 at The Heights School in Potomac.
It still faces years of design, approval and funding processes before the earliest construction date of 2012
