No word on if he bikes to work, but Seattle's mayor just announced a ginormous bike plan.
City officials say it will cost $240 million to implement the plan over the next decade. Proposed line items include $35.7 million for on-road bike facilities, $7 million for roadway crossing improvements, $63.7 million for multi-use trail facilities (including improvements to the Burke-Gilman trail), $80.6 million for capital projects such as bike and pedestrian bridges, $46.5 million for bike facility maintenance and $5.9 million for other bike projects, such as parking, maps and education.
I'm not sure any dollar figures were ever attached to D.C.'s bike plan.
Shown above is a map of Poplar Point from the bike plan. The Post recently did a write up on this under-utilized area. The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail will run along the shore. The Frederick Douglas Bridge will have improved bikeways, a trail will bisect the property and a pedestrian bridge will cross I-295 at W Street. No sign of the Shepherd Spur Trail on the graphic (which I can't find a link for). But here is the AWI report on Poplar Point - note that this is pre-soccer stadium.
