The new Wilson Bridge will have a cantilevered bike trail to Maryland on its northern most span. Here is the trail under construction in late October 2007

Based on VDOT performance getting the path open from GW Parkway to Rt 1, we will be lucky to see this open before 2011
The path from the GW parkway to Rt 1 has been "complete" for over a year but remains blocked for the convenience of the contractor.

Maybe you know the answer, because I've wondered: On the new GW Parkway to Rt. 1 bike connector, once you get to Rt. 1 from the GW Parkway, will there be any bike lanes? Seems like this is a bike path to/from nowhere.

I believe it will eventually connect to the Fort Hunt Trail and the Huntington Stream Valley Trail.
