From Prince William County I get this news release:
Good news for those who live just a bit too far to walk to their nearest bus stop! Bike racks have been installed on many PRTC buses. With the new bike racks, bus passengers can take bikes along for the ride and have an alternate means of transportation once they disembark from the bus.
The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission, PRTC, provides local and commuter bus services in Prince William County, the City of Manassas and the City of Manassas Park.
Bike racks have been installed on 40 PRTC buses that serve the OmniLink local routes, the Cross County Connector route and the Metro Direct routes that connect to nearby Metro stations. At this time, PRTC does not anticipate installing bike racks on OmniRide commuter buses.
when you reported on this before, I wondered why couldn't bicyclists just put bikes in the luggage bays in the big commuter buses? I once saw a woman do this with one of the Chinese buses in DC (from NYC). I wasn't fast enough to get a photo.
