Continuing their policy of trying to be more bike friendly - like European cities where "In every station there are thousands of bicycles" - Metro is banning bicycles tomorrow from 5am to 7pm to accommodate increased ridership due to the Pope.
No bicycles will be permitted in the Metro rail system until after 7 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday due to large crowds.
Feel free to bring your rolling bags and luggage though.
I wonder how they will react to a folding bike in a bag?

You're probably fine. They treat that as luggage.

I'm pretty sure that I could fit my unfoldable bike into most strollers.

Folding bikes need to be in a bag.

Is METRO being bike friendly?
Does the Pope crap in the woods?

The rationale is that such large items as bikes take up space that can be used much more efficiently by individual Metro riders. By the same logic, D.C. has decided to close all its roads to such large items as cars, which take up space that can be used much more efficiently by individual bike riders.

The problem with the rationale is that Metro doesn't ban all large items, just bikes.

You're barking up the wrong tree, Jack.

It was a joke, sorry. Of course I disagree with WMATA's policy to prohibit bikes in rush hour or Pope hour or any other hour. By WMATA's logic cars shouldn't be allowed on the streets, that's my point.

I'd have been more impressed with the Pope on a bike.
(or even a stick, really.)
