If you aren't going to the TIP meeting tonight, you could go to the Baseball Parking Plan meeting. Especially if you live in Ward 6.
The meeting agenda will include:
-- Presentation of the Ward 6 Committee that will assist DDOT in determining how curbside revenue will be allocated.
-- Update on revenue from the green multi-space meters.
-- Update on the Ward 6 Visitor Parking Pass program.
-- Discussion of potential sign improvements or modifications for 2009.
-- Recommendations from the community for 2009.The Wednesday meeting , from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 900 Delaware Ave. SW. The church, at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and I Street SW, is about a half mile from the Waterfront Metro station on the Green line.
It would be nice to ensure that SOME of the revenue discussed in item one goes to cycling. It would be a great way to pay for expanding SmartBike into the neighborhood, for example.
Update: WABA Wisely points out
With the installation of new multi-space meters, which is taking place around Capitol Hill and near Nationals Stadium, many single parking meters, a common place to lock for cyclists, will be removed. WABA is urging that a portion of the parking revenue generated by the multi-space meters be used to install inverted U bike parking racks.
