I hear that rare earth magnets work very well and can be purchased cheap or even just scavenged from a dead hard-drive.


This guy has a few great hacks, among them a traffic light hack that's just two magnets;


Or... just get your junctions rebuilt to favour bikes and have special sensors which work for bicycles:
