Here are several College-based stories I didn't have time to write about earlier
Bike thefts are up on Georgetown (already more than either of the last two years - and that was as of November).
GW students take part in the 3rd annual Mount Vernon to Mount Vernon bike ride. "The event brings people of different aspects within the University together uniting over riding their bikes and the historical relationship between GW University and George Washington's former home." More here.
UMd students will have to wait for a more bikeable Route 1.
The real USC gets more bike friendly
[Bike enthusiasts'] effort got a boost in 2002 when Andrew Sorensen, an avid cyclist, took over as school president. He insisted the university include bike infrastructure in its master plan.
The renovation of the Wheat Street corridor through campus now includes bike lanes. Anyone with a school ID can check out a bike at the parking services office from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for free. Showers are available for commuting bike riders at the West Quad dorm.
