Anyone who has followed pro or elite mountain bike racing will be familiar with the powerhouse team Trek-Volkswagon has been throughout the years, including bad-asses Chris Eatough, Jeremiah Bishop and Jeff Schalk who all hail from the region. Mt. Airy Bicycles very own Steven Hoover served as the East Coast Team Manager.
Browne said Trek would not completely abandon the domestic racing
scene, and would consider smaller, individual sponsorships with Bishop
and Schnell for 2009. Eatough, the seven-time 24-hour world champ,
still has one year remaining in his contract with the bicycle
manufacturer.

I realize that not everyone's into racing, but this was a really sad situation. The Trek-VW team was stacked with longtime pros - the sort of folks that you and I would really dig. Very sad to see it not working out.
