Add Arlington County Board Vice Chair Jay Fisette to the growing list.
And somewhat related, Adam Voiland does a profile on bike commuter and newly appointed assistant U.S. treasury secretary Dan Tangherlini. When he was head of DDOT Tangherlini was an enthusiastic supporter of cycling. He hired a bicycle program manager, inserted the languange that eventually brought SmartBike (sort of making him the "Father of SmartBike"), added the bike/bus lanes in downtown, and supported the bike station and bicycle master plan. Hopefully his replacement as City Administrator will be as good a friend to cycling as Tangherlini has been.
Jay Fisette is hardly new to bicycle commuting. When Jay first ran for elected office more than a dozen years ago, his campaign literature touted his WABA membership.
Arlington County Board members Chris Zimmerman and (to a lesser extent) Walter Tejada also travel to the County offices by bicycle, as did former Arlington County Board members Jim Hunter and Paul Ferguson (now Clerk of the Arlington County Circuit Court).
Last but not least, Arlington School Board Chairman Ed Fendley is a long-time daily bicycle commuter.
