From a recent Press Release.
This summer, 45 DC young people will work with the non-profit public
arts organization to cover a wall in the Edgewood community of
Northeast DC with beautiful art and to create a new curriculum on youth
leadership in public arts. The result of their work will be a 300
foot-long mural alongside the new Metropolitan Branch Trail, which will serve cyclists and pedestrians when complete. The art will also be visible from the Rhode Island Metro station.
Wow, 300 feet of mural space serving cyclists.... I would design some fairly large scale imagery and take into account the average cyclists speed past the wall.
Also, I would consider how this mural will be photographed with cyclists going past it. One of my favorite cycling photographers, Graham Watson, has some VERY cool images of the TourdeFrance with cyclists pedaling through a field of sunflowers. I've licensed and designed murals around that work... It's a knockout!

Posted some photos from this weekend of the "work" that has been done on the Trail so far. Not very promising.

DDOT has said that the goal is to finish this section by the end of August or maybe late September, not July 22nd.
