Mayor Fenty announced last week that DC is going to use $4 million in stimulus money to build as much as 15 miles of new sidewalk (putting a dent in the 200 miles of missing sidewalk District-wide).
The target streets for the construction program getting underway this summer are in every ward. You can see a list here.
The District says the list of target streets was made by matching medium and high pedestrian activity areas with missing sidewalk locations and reviewing comments received from Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners and residents.

I don't ride on sidewalks in DC much, so it's hard for me to say how much these will help cyclists, but it won't hurt.
Interesting that Fenty celebrates sidewalk funding so quickly after quietly nixing a planned sidewalk in Ward 3.
