So reports Dr. Gridlock
Construction of the Intercounty Connector along Route 29 in Montgomery
County is becoming more visible today. Drivers, bikers and walkers will
see changes because of bridge pier construction and roadway widening.
Starting today, the bicycle-pedestrian path will be re-routed. The old path will re-open once construction along Route 29 is done in late 2011.
The biker-walker detour from Route 29 goes to Old Columbia Pike at East Randolph Road/Cherry Hill Road to the south. To the north, it goes over to Briggs Chaney Road. The Maryland State Highway Administration, which is in charge of the project, says the detour is being coordinated with an upcoming traffic shift from the old Old Columbia Pike to the new Old Columbia Pike, which will include a bridge designed to carry traffic over the Intercounty Connector.
