I saw Summer Streets in NYC on the 15th. It was amazing how many thousand bikes were out there. Of course there were the usual die-hards in spandex or hipster attire, but there were a lot of people who looked like they were getting the cobwebs out of their bike too. It went the entire length of lower Manhattan. All of the free bikes were taken, but we will definitely try to do it next year if they continue it. I wish DC would do this (beyond Beach drive; something on Penn Ave or the Mall). I saw something in the Express paper yesterday about a charity ride on Penn Ave., but they wanted big money. It should be free.
