This, from GGW, has already been picked up by DCist and it's a good story. In an attempt to measure interest in a bike sharing program at DOT, one employee is encouraging coworkers to take his bike (an extra he won at a raffle) out of the garage for short trips around town. His letter is pretty good so you should read it if you have the time.
I so hope that his bike is not stolen, but is ridden like crazy.
Also from the comments come some encouraging signs from BD.
would be a FANTASTIC thing to have a federal employees bicyclist advocacy group
There is one, internally at USDOT, and that is true at resource agencies like EPA. And we do work to raise awareness, and it is quite active. But obviously, we want to work internally to raise awareness.
thanks for the kind words, WC
