Good news: Sen. Tom Coburn is 0-4 on killing bicycle funding with his amendment to allow states to opt out of transportation enhancement funding losing on a vote of 39-59 and his amendment to prohibit "funds from being used on lower-priority projects" losing 41-57. He's been in DC long enough to start mimicking our baseball team.
Bad news: Sen. Jim Webb voted for the first of those two amendments. All of the other MD/VA members of the Senate opposed both of them. No word on why Webb voted for. Perhaps Virginians should write and ask.
Disappointing. Let's see what senator Webb says.

Thanks for the head's up. I wrote him.

I wrote to him asking for an explanation, and got an insipid roboreply, assuring me that, "we will be sure to keep your comments and ideas in mind." Awesome.

I got the same thing. This is not the first time this has happened.
There is no way around it. Webb is lame in communicating with his constituents. No way around it. If Webb is not careful, Warner will be the senior senator from Virginia soon.
