Diamond Teague Park was officially unveiled yesterday, and with it about 500 feet of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. While not exactly a cyclist's dream, it will become slightly more useful when the Park at the Yards opens this summer. Cyclists will still have to wait for River and Water Streets SE to open since bike riding will not be allowed on the Park's boardwalk - I foresee that this rule will be broken with great regularity, as it is in Georgetown, and will be a source of conflict. Maybe then, the Navy Yard will finally open the promenade and one will be able to bike from RFK (using the under-construction bridge over the tracks) to the Stadium on the trail.
On the south side the trail will connect to the Florida Rock development, but that won't even start work until mid-2013 at the earliest.
The title, by the way, is reference to a phrase used in Cameroon about patience. The response is "Hurry Hurry Broke Trousers."
One note--there's currently no direct connection between the Yards Park and Teague--the floating bridge that will have to be built to connect the two doesn't seem to be on the boards yet. (Last I heard the responsibility for that bridge had transferred to the city.)
