In case you somehow missed it, DDOT is asking you for input on where to put Capital Bikeshare [I'm going with the less-confusing and more clever acronym CaBi] stations. Last year I saw an Office of Planning Map of station locations, but that was back when expansion was to be SmartBike and to only 40 locations. Now it appears they're looking for some crowd-sourcing info on where users want stations - which sounds like a good idea. So I recommend filling out the survey for your neighborhood. I even added places outside of DC/Arlington because I figure it's good information for them and as noted below, other areas are very much in the plans. My top location, btw, is DCA. That would be such a nice way to go to/from the airport. I wonder if you'd wind up with a line of people like you get waiting for taxis.
According to stats I saw from Octo labs on twitter, they had 500 responses in the first 12 hours.
GGW also has info on bike sharing from the TPB on the subject of the super-sizing of CBS.
DC would get 1,000 more bikes for a total of 2,000, Arlington 750 in addition to their planned 117, Montgomery County 200, Fairfax County 100, Alexandria 60, and a still-undetermined number in College Park.
Governments have to match 20% of the total cost with the federal government potentially paying 80%. Arlington gets to count their 117 bikes as their match, but DC is using federal funds for its 1,000 and would therefore have to pay for 20% of the next 1,000 locally.
