I've heard no one mention it until now, but DC bike commuter noticed that the Dalecarlia Tunnel on the Capital Crescent Trail turns 100 years old this year. I wonder if the Coalition for the CCT is planning a birthday party. I love cake. Maybe it'll get to host SNL or something.

I love that tunnel. However, I must confess that it can be occasionally terrifying...one time I was on the trail very late at night and, already worried, saw a dark shadow crouched at the end of the tunnel. As I approached, ready at moment's notice to spring forward away from my inevitable attacker, I saw that it was an orange construction pylon left by a work crew.
