Thanks. By the way, if you have any additional examples with measurements, please indicate whether the measurement is to the gutter or to th curb. If I read the guidelines correctly (correct me if I am wrong) ASHTO measures from the curb while MD SHA measure from the gutter, which means that MD SHA requires about 14 more inches than AASHTO

Well, its either that or no bike lane. Personally I'd prefer no bike lane at all over that garbage. But there is a certain portion of cyclists that like bike lanes at any cost. There is no safe way for both safe driving and cycling lanes within that road right of way.
