College Football season starts today!
- O and P Streets in Georgetown will get some work. These are the only residential streets in DC I know of where biking is prohibited. Hopefully taking down those signs is part of the work.
- The Coalition for Smarter Growth encourages everyone to ride a bike.
- Hill and Go Seek Recap. Temporary parking on H Street provided by DDOT with a commitment for more permanent parking, but two stolen bikes mar event.
- Laurel starts to implement bike plan. "The bike lane has been installed on the left side of this one-way part of Fourth Street to reduce the likelihood of bicyclists ... being hit by a vehicle door" of a parked car, said Bryon White, a city engineer. "A lot of people bike on Route 1 on the sidewalks, so if you get them to use the bike lanes on Fourth Street, which is parallel to Route 1 from Cherry Lane to the (Patuxent) river and is only separated by one block, it will be a lot safer," White said.
- GGW on the I-66 spot improvements and their impact on the Custis Trail "Once the bridge is widened, there will be less daylight at this point. Although there is some relatively inadequate lighting now, it may need to be upgraded as part of the projects."
- Good news: new bike lanes on 17th Street NW. Bad news: they didn't dash the lines at the intersections.
- DC: the Bad Driving Captiol of the United States, two years running.
- The Adams Morgan Streetscape project, which will bring wider lanes and more bike parking, is soliciting contractors.
- Bus driver wants cyclist to get the F*** out of the way.
- The Sun Gazette's Sports editor thinks cyclists should wear a helmet, no excuses.
- goDCgo has a new look
- GGW endorses Eric Olson for PG County Council, in part for bike friendliness.
The sign removal on O and P may be a precursor to the already-approved removal of the cable car tracks.

According to the DCMud story (I forgot to add the link, but that's been fixed), the tracks are not being removed. And technically they aren't cable car tracks.

I don't think you would want cyclists riding on those streets except for mountain and cyclocross bikes. That would be really rough on a road bike.
