Wow, the media is now going to Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee meetings. The - admittedly local oriented - Patch reports on the meeting Monday night.
The purpose of Monday's meeting was to allow for any last minute changes the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee wanted to suggest to the county government.
at the top of the list was north/south bicycle lanes or routes, followed by improved bicycle accident rate collection.
Currently the county and Arlington Police only collect data if over $500 of damage is done or if someone is sent to an emergency room, according to the Committee. They say more bike-related accident data collection could help improve the streetscape for cyclists.
Mark Blacknell, chair of the committee, called for even small accidents to be accounted for. "We want to make sure the streets are safe for everyone…though Arlington already does a generally good job at that," said Blacknell.
North/south bike routes would be nice. Are there any convenient and direct routes from Pentagon City to Ballston, or from Shirlington to Ballston?
