Good Morning
- Richard Layman links to a cool map showing transit, walking and biking by congressional district. Montana and Alaska both show high levels of bike commuting.
- More footage from the pedestrian and bicycle safety enforcement hearing
- Sign up for WABA's "Room to Breathe" poster. Take part in an influential piece of active transportation advocacy in the DC metro area. WABA, DDOT, and local collage artist Matthew Parker are combining efforts to create a Room to Breathe poster inspired by the iconic shots in Portland and New York City. The poster will be a series of three photos displaying how mch room 50 automobiles takes up compared to 50 cyclists and 50 pedestrians, showing that active transportation is a more efficient use of space.
- Meet C&O trail volunteers
- Arlington cyclist gets doored, police show up but then don't take a report.
When he followed up with police to get the driver's name and insurance information, he says he was told nothing could be done for him since he originally said he "wasn't injured." He says a report was never filed.
"I never said I wasn't injured," he writes. "I said I didn't need emergency treatment. Two significantly different things."
- Metro employees need someplace to park other than in front of the bike racks.
From the link to metro manager parking ... " Two observations came from this night. The first: WMATA needs to procure parking for the station managers who need to arrive before the first train and drive home after the last train departs. "
Wrong forum I know but it has irked me for 30 plus years. Why does the capital city of the known universe have a metro system that shuts down for most of the night?
