As of today, DC is being upgraded from Bronze to Silver in LAB's Bicycle Friendly Community program.
DC made Bronze back in 2003, and since then has instituted bike-sharing (twice), the Bike Station, cycletracks, bike boxes, sharrowed lanes, the Wilson Bridge bike path, the Met Branch Trail and much more. Can we expect Gold by 2019?
This puts DC at the same level as Arlington, VA; Chicago; and Austin, TX - among others.
Congratulations to DDOT, specifically the bike team, WABA and of course, all of you.
More information will be coming out today.
It's a 4-year status, so DC will have to renew in 2015. Or are you thinking it'll take them two "terms" to get to gold?

Having the largest and arguably the must popular bike sharing program in the country, more than doubling the percentage of trips over that span only counts for silver?

Froggie, it took 8 years to go from Bronze to Silver, so I was calculating 8 years to get from Silver to Gold.
