Arlington County is using Neighborhood Conservation Program money to redesign Glencarlyn Park along the W&OD Trail at Columbia Pike.
The project design, which will be completed late in the year, includes play areas, stormwater elements, park amenities and lots of native plants.
For cyclists the space will include a wayside for users of the W&OD, bicycle racks and a paved loop path that will provide a location for children to learn to ride or skate separated from the heavily-used W&OD Trail.
In addition, the connection to Columbia Pike will be realigned as part of the Columbia Pike streetscape
project. It looks nice

The training loop sounds like a good idea for kids. The connection to Columbia Pike is also helpful. It'll still be a hassle to cross Columbia Pike but there's no inexpensive way to remedy that problem. At least it won't be as awkward to cross with the new configuration.
