Decade of Action for Road Safety
and National Youth Traffic Safety Month Launch
The United Nations has declared a Decade of Action for Road Safety (2011-2020) with worldwide events on May 11, 2011. May is also National Youth Traffic Safety Month (NYTSM) in the U.S. In Washington, DC, please join us for a day of events to launch both the Decade of Action and NYTSM on May 11, 2011. A morning press event with release of new traffic safety data will be followed by an afternoon program including a Decade of Action for Road Safety EXPO and a Congressional Briefing on Capitol Hill.
U. S. Launch of Decade of Action and National Youth Traffic Safety Month 10:00-11:00 AM
Hosted by the Honorable Norman Y. Mineta and featuring remarks by Members of Congress and key government officials, this launch will include a release of new traffic safety data and tools, a screening of three new Sesame Street PSAs, the NYTSM Youth Choice Awards, and other awards. Sesame Street’s new road safety ambassador Grover will make a special appearance.

Decade of Action for Road Safety EXPO 1:00-2:30 PM
What: An opportunity for organizations, businesses, Congressional groups, and federal agencies to share available information, programs, products, resources, and activities on road safety. Topics that will be a highlight of the expo include teen drivers, highway infrastructure, behavioral risks, and safety products.
