Could be a British expat (or anglophile) - 'puddle jumper' is brit-slang for a small car, for which the Honda Fit would qualify (by US standards).

"puddle jumper" is also slang for small (usually twin-turboprop) commercial aircraft. For example, some of the flights between Norfolk and Dulles.

When I read the headline, I thought I was going to see a mtn biker kitted out in their downhill "roach" gear. In those instances, they do look more like combat pilots than cyclists.
