I saw Americathon when I was a kid (so probably back in 1979) and seeing it again has some unintended humor. It takes place in the future of 1998, when we've run out of oil and everyone bikes or runs everywhere. We must save a fortune on health care.
Our national debt is over $400 billion. Wow! That's insane. And we're in danger of being foreclosed on - luckily, debt isn't really an issue now. Anyway, my last thought is why are all those runners and skateboarders on the Bike Freeway? Get in the skateboarding lane where you belong! It isn't safe for you mixing with bikes! Ding Ding Ding....
Holy crap! Scary...

Wow, thanks for posting. I have to wonder, would it be so bad if everybody biked everywhere? We'd save money *and* the environment.
